Stars line red carpet for Bafta TV Awards

Happy Valley could make Bafta history.

Since the category began in 1958, no programme has won drama series more than twice.

Cracker, Inspector Morse, The Cops and The Street all did the double, but tonight, a Happy Valley hat-trick could be completed.

The first two series of Sally Wainwright’s Hebden Bridge set crime drama won in 2015 and 2017.

This is the show’s final chance, because last year’s series was the final one.

It would certainly be a popular winner with viewers. According to BARB (who measure ratings), the last episode was the most watched TV programme of the year (excluding live events).

There are also acting nominations for Sarah Lancashire (who won best actress for the second series), Siobhan Finneran and Amit Shah.

So, at the Baftas there could be a happy ending for Happy Valley.
